Portrait Photographer in Birmingham
Children and family portrait photography
As well as newborn photography, I also offer children and family portrait sessions, welcoming siblings and families to my studio for relaxed, natural photographs.
We take so many photographs of our children as they grow, often without realising how quickly these moments pass. Portrait photography allows you to pause time and capture your child just as they are now — their expressions, personality and little details you’ll one day look back on fondly.
Portrait sessions take place in my warm, inviting studio in Old Oscott, Birmingham, designed to help children feel comfortable and at ease throughout the session.

What to expect from your portrait photoshoot
A portrait photography session usually lasts around 60 minutes.
Sessions can take place in the studio or outdoors (weather permitting), and are designed to feel relaxed and fun rather than posed or rushed.
Portrait sessions are available Sunday to Friday, with Sunday sessions requiring advance booking due to limited availability.
Preparing for your portrait session
-
A range of simple props are available, including rugs, chairs, bowls, beds and a wooden highchair (available on request)
-
You’re welcome to bring favourite toys, keepsakes or a small snack or drink
-
If siblings are joining the session, please let me know in advance
For the best experience, I kindly ask that no more than two adults accompany your child and that mobile phones are avoided as distractions during the session.
For hygiene reasons, all footwear is left at the entrance to the studio.

What to wear for your portrait session
Simple, timeless clothing works best for portrait photography.
-
Avoid strong patterns, logos or slogans, as these can be distracting in the final images
-
Choose block colours and soft, neutral tones where possible
-
Try to coordinate outfits so colours complement each other rather than match exactly
-
Bright colours can cast strong tones onto skin, which may be unflattering
-
If you’re unsure what to wear, I’m always happy to offer guidance before your session.
